⚜️ House Bartolotti: A gorgeously preserved canal house on the Herengracht, built around 1620 for the affluent banker merchant Willem Bartolotti. The facade is lavishly decorated with ornaments such as decorative vases, balusters, medallions and imaginative sculptures. This venue offers stunning wall and ceiling art, a serene courtyard, and flexible spaces for elegant presentations or intimate dinners by the canal.
Craftsmen tapped away at the property for years, giving each room its own unique feel as times and styles changed. Bartolotti truly encapsulates the lavish and luxurious.
🏰 The Trippenhuis: The Trip brothers were dealers in weapons, artillery, bullets, ammunition, iron and tar. They had a house built on the Kloveniersburgwal that would become the largest residential house in Amsterdam in the seventeenth century. Since 1812, the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) has been permanently located in the Trippenhuis.
The 22 metre wide house is the most spacious residence in the city. With its striking mortar-shaped chimneys, this former home of Amsterdam’s wealthiest arms dealers stands out. Built between 1660 - 1662, the Trippenhuis has undergone little change in the centuries since. Hosting royalty, scientists, artists and other figures of cultural note worthyness, it combines grandeur and history for an impressive event setting.
